Controlled reversible aggregation of thermoresponsive polymeric nanoparticles by interfacial Diels-Alder reaction

Stimuli-responsive polymers, with properties changing upon different environmental factor variations such as pH, light, mechanical stress or temperature, and polymeric nanoparticles have found many important applications in fields drug delivery, biosensing research. In this work, thermoresponsive that are able to react by Diels-Alder reaction (a diene-dienophile cycloaddition) were studied. Thermoresponsive polymers synthesized from a biocompatible polymer (poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid, PLGA) diene (furan) dienophile (maleimide) derivatives. Emulsification-evaporation method was then used fast reproducible obtain highly monodispersed nanosuspensions (DA) reaction. The nanoparticles’ size decreased down 25 nm increasing the emulsification’s time. possible direct retro-Diels-Alder (rDA) reactions between furan- maleimide-functionalized studied dynamic light scattering electron microscopy. For first time, reactivity of interfacial DA rDA functionalized-nanoparticles studied, leading determination activation energy, enthalpy entropy activation.

The aqueous Diels-Alder reaction of 1,3-cyclohexadiene with 1,4-benzoquinone was compared and contrasted to the same reaction catalyzed with Flextyl P, a novel Ti(IV) performance catalyst.
